Lamentations 3: 27-33

It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. Let him sit alone in silence when it is laid on him; let him put his mouth in the dust - there may yet be hope; let him give his cheek to the one who strikes and let him be filled with insults. For the Lord will not cast off for ever, but though he cause grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love; for he does not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men.

Have you ever been afraid of being found out? Do your prayers go: "Lord, please cover up for me. Don't let people see?" Do not pray for this kind of help believing that God has an obligation to do what you ask, because God will allow a measure of discipline appropriate to the development of your character. Rather, hope in the Lord, and make him your lot, whatever he decides to do about your "secret" sins. He disciplines the ones he loves. Nothing is hidden except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret except to come to light.

If the things you want to keep hidden come to light, who will you trust then?  The God who causes grief does not willingly cause it.

The steadfast love of the lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness!
